A Dim View of Business
Hit the lights! British Summer Time ends this weekend and the (Don’t forget) clocks back, to give way to lighter mornings and darker evenings. This was the’t just briefly inevitable water cooler chatter about how fast the nights drawing, It’ll work means the business of electricity meters spinning faster than those in shops, offices and factories around the UK continue to return throughout the day and the heating is cranked-up to max.
Heating and lighting the majority of companies in energy use accounts for 75% of the total energy than residential buildings of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. This is the average of both is even more companies, which have been maintaining a high lighting and heating. Think about the High Street retailer opened its doors to the elements and constantly illuminated signs to attract browsers. Our research shows that even in the depths of Winter, the temperature inside the shops in London’s Oxford Street to a hot 27 degrees the ideal room temperature for shops and showrooms, as recommended by the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers, is 18 degrees. Whatever the type of commercial building energy consumption will rocket around now, and indirect supplier invoices focuses the mind of every business owner rates they pay. Put it this way, if you’re a business owner, and Don’t know what the price per unit – measured in kilowatt-hour - you pay for electricity for your business, so how can you know if it’sa good rate or not? Business unit price of electricity at present ranges from about 8p/kWh but there may be four times as much, if you’re one of the unlucky stick out of the”out-of-contract’prices. If you know the company’s electricity price, Price Checker pop it and we’ll tell me if it is right and how it compares to other companies their own zip codes.
Small Business Failures
As a small business owner myself, I am well aware of the minute distinctions that separate successful businesses from those that fail. Often, these differences are so minor that they are often overlooked by both the successful business and those that fail. Yet, in the end, the primary reasons why some small businesses fail has to do with location, experience, and capital.
According to sba.gov, one of the driving factors in business failure is insufficient capital. One of the driving forces for any business is money. Without finances to back up any venture, the road to success is littered with obstacles. Many traditional business owners are also finding that the Internet is the next step in building their business. They also realize that there is far less capital required to get started with an Internet presence, sometimes none at all.
Many brick and mortar business owners simply do not plan on having the right amount of capital in place and therefore run into trouble with distributors, suppliers, and even landlords. Online, however, this problem is minimized. There are free website creation tools available so that start up costs are negligible.
WordPress blogs are one way for a traditional business to quickly create a web presence. Blogs, for those unfamiliar with the term, are web-based journals. They have become sophisticated in recent years so that images, videos, and audio clips can be incorporated into them as well. They don’t necessarily have to be all text, though it’s still text that search engines respond to. WordPress offers free blog hosting, but if your business already has a website, you can download the blogging tools to run directly on your site as well.
A Dim View of Business Electricity Prices
Hit the lights! British Summer Time ends this weekend and (don’t forget) clocks go back, giving way to lighter mornings and darker
evenings. This won’t just prompt the inevitable water-cooler chatter about how fast the nights drawing in, it’ll mean workplace business electricity meters spinning faster as shops, offices and factories around the UK remain illuminated throughout the day and heating systems are cranked-up to the max.
Heating and lighting dominate business energy use, accounting for 75% of all energy in non-domestic buildings according to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. This is an average figure so will be even more for businesses which need to maintain high levels of lighting and heating. Think of a High Street retailer with its doors permanently open to the elements and signs illuminated to entice browsers. Our research shows that, even in the depths of Winter, temperatures inside shops on London’s Oxford Street reach a sweltering 27 degrees when the ideal ambient temperature for shops and showrooms, as recommended by The Chartered Institute for Building Services Engineers, is 18 degrees.
Whatever the type of building, commercial energy consumption will start to rocket around now and the consequential bills from electricity suppliers will focus the mind of every business owner on the rates they are paying. Put it this way, if you are a business owner and you don’t know what unit rates – measured in Kilowatt Hours – you are paying for your business electricity, then how do you know if it’s a good rate or not? Business electricity unit prices currently range from around 8p/kWh but can be four times as much if you are one of the unlucky ones caught out on ‘out-of-contract’ rates. If you know your business electricity rate, pop it in our Price Checker and we’ll tell you if it is fair and how it compares to other businesses in your postcodes.
But it is not just businesses that are feeling the pinch from commercial electricity bills. Local Authorities up-and-down the country are introducing ‘part-night’ lighting schemes: Devon, Leicestershire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Gloucester, Hampshire and Oxfordshire to name but a few. The schemes dim, cut out completely – or in some cases switch off every other street light – between midnight and dawn. This, they conveniently claim, is all to do with meeting their ‘carbon reduction’ commitments but there is a more pressing reason for cutting their consumption… The real reason for plunging town and city centres into darkness is to fill a black financial hole that councils face after receiving below inflation raises in their budgets at exactly the same time as commercial energy contract renewal prices hit historic highs.
Effective Postcard Marketing
Yes, Postcards Really CAN Work…Despite What You’ve Been Told
Whether you’re using them for the first time or the hundredth time, you’ve probably heard this tired refrain, “Postcards just don’t work.” Maybe you’ve even said it yourself. Good news! Being completely and totally wrong has never been so exciting…until now. Why? Because marketing with postcards is not only EFFECTIVE and CHEAP, it’s EASY. And that, my friend, is a hard combination to beat.
The secret? Knowing what to do with postcards, when to do it and how. Just as you wouldn’t use a lug wrench when the job calls for a crescent, so too must you understand the proper application and use of postcards.
Why Use Postcards?
Before we get to “how” you should use postcards, let’s review why you would even want to. In other words, how could a cheap, flimsy piece of paper ever serve you better than other, more sophisticated, direct mail tactics?
- Postcards don’t need to be opened. The headline, copy and graphics are all right there for the viewing, unlike other marketing collateral that comes in an envelope and requires the prospect to at least open it. Why is this significant? Because it gives your marketing piece more opportunities to catch the prospect’s attention and get read before being tossed.
- Postcards are short. This appeals to the short-attention-span reader or skimmer because she can get to the point quickly, without wading through what she sees as a bunch of unnecessary filler material.
- Printing and postage costs are cheaper. Traditional letters or direct mail packages often cost twice as much as postcards, if not more. So if you’re working on a small budget, if you want to reach thousands of people you couldn’t afford to mail to otherwise, or you simply want to test the waters, postcards can be a cost effective means of doing just that.
- Writing and designing postcards is easier and less costly. If you choose to write your own copy and do your own design, postcards take a fraction of the time you’d invest otherwise due to its limited amount of space. Alternatively, if you hire out the writing and design to a third party, you may spend a bit more than doing it yourself.
- Postcards work for any business-including yours. Whether you’re in retail, an information marketer, direct marketer or any other type of vendor, postcards have worked for ALL business classifications.
Viagra or Sildenafil has sure reached far
For a person who is suffering from erectile dysfunction, certainly it is a welcome thing to have medications available immediately for use in his condition and this way was lead back at the start of 1998 by a drug called Sildenafil released by Pfizer and from that moment on, it has made waves all around the world as a primary drug in treatment of erectile dysfunction. Back in the early days of Sildenafil , or actually better known as the brand name Viagra, it has gathered the interest of men with and without erectile dysfunction alike as its effects was like a miracle that even those that did not have the condition were a bit jealous as how come there is a drug that can make men last longer in terms of erection, in fact it was almost up to 4 hours after the intake of the medication. After that they all sought to buy this and the rush in sales and profit reached the attention of other pharmaceuticals who sought in to cash in this frenzy and so came out also Tadalafil (Cialis) and also vardenafil (Levitra). These medications however did not reach the same height as Viagra did but all the same, they were all efficient against erectile dysfunction and now, men have more choices due to this and they sure are a happier lot with these choices available to them now unlike before when they had none for ED.
